Tutoring can provide something the classroom simply cannot - personalized learning. My principal aim is to individualize a one-on-one learning experience that helps you achieve your goals. I will listen carefully to understand your academic needs and develop a tutoring program that specifically addresses those needs. Nothing is more rewarding than to witness the emergence of confidence when learning leads to understanding.
I literally started tutoring in grade school and have been tutoring almost since that time. I started out tutoring math and then both math and physics. My principal area of focus now is mathematics: Calculus, Precalculus, Trigonometry, Geometry, Algebra, and Arithmetic.
However, I also tutor students in Grammar, Writing, ESL, and Test-taking Strategies for the SAT, ACT, and SSAT exams. I have developed a spectrum of test prep materials. This includes a five-hour mini course on math, grammar, and writing strategies and insights; a Geometry review; an overview on how to write a high scoring essay. For ESL students, I have many books and workbooks that I use to custom tailor a curriculum to an individual's needs.
My education includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri at Columbia, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Secondary Math Education from Villanova University. I received 7-12 Teacher Certification in Pennsylvania and was awarded the ETS Recognition of Excellence for my performance on the Praxis exam, Mathematics Content Knowledge. I have well over 200 college credit hours.
I look forward to helping you find your own aptitudes and helping you achieve your academic goals.
